How is this possible?
How can I survive in this chaotic world without being positive?
I don’t want to be negative!
Why is being positive “bad”?
Last week I had this discussion with a number of my clients. When people are being positive, they don’t allow themselves to feel upset, let alone show they are upset. This means that when we are positive, we don’t allow ourselves to feel and express all of our emotions. We pretend to be happy, but in the meantime we are upset inside. We overstep those “negative” feelings. We push that feeling down. But feelings buried alive never die. (This is a great title of an existing book).
My alternative for being positive is being real. This means that we allow ourselves to feel all our emotions and then release them in a safe and holistic manner. When we sit with that emotional pain and are kind to ourselves in that moment, the pain disappears and we naturally become happy again.
When we are comfortable with all of our emotions, we can now let our emotions guide us. If something triggers us to feel upset, then something is off. We need to change something. As long as we feel love-peace-joy, we are going in the direction that our spirit like.
If you want to make a difference in this world, stop being positive and become real. Be honest with yourself about how you feel. Release the emotions and then make the necessary changes so that you feel the love-you-peace again.
